Background: We do not know where this started but it can become compulsive once you get involved. Simply stated the objective is to get “one of each” of the 240 different 1d values up to £1. Only pre-decimal cheques made out in ‘old’ money qualify, e.g. 12d = 1/- and 20/- = £1. So it’s too late to start writing out your own low value cheques!

229 Different: Cheque values under 1/- have not yet been seen so it is assumed that the values 1d to 11d are not available. This means that there are 229 different monetary values from 1/- to £1 to be collected

Full Set: Has anyone achieved a full set? Not as far as we know but a collection of 209 cheques with different values under £1 is reported.

More info: Do see our information article “Collecting Low Value Cheques”. This gives further information on the relative scarcity of the different low values. It is not simply the case that the lower the value the scarcer the cheque. You need to read this guide before you buy.

The frustrating thing about this collecting theme is that all the 229 different values from 1/- to £1 do actually exist on cheques somewhere. Getting them all together in one collection is the challenge. Best of luck.
